Betty and I needed a break from our hectic and time consuming Expand Tour preparations. We always keep our ear to the ground for neat local events and happenings and came across Hardwire Speers’ gig at Deja Brew in Cochrane.

We packed up our camera gear, 12 year old son, and headed down for some live music, good eats and, of course, coffee! Having never been to Deja Brew, and it wasn’t hard to find (thanks, Google!), we arrived in good time to order some lunch. We all selected custom, hand-made panini-style sandwiches. The coffee was great and the staff was friendly and talkative. We were a little concerned about the food wait time at first, but in light of how busy they got, we totally understood.
When the sandwiches came, it was well worth the wait! We’ve eaten a lot of coffee shop food in the past, and were really happy with the quality and flavours of the meal that was created for us – top rate!

The talented Neil Speers arrived in short order and set up his portable music gear. For an hour he played live guitar and sang for the lunchtime crowd;  Original songs for the most part, and it was very relaxing, interactive, and enjoyable!
It’s always nice to get out of our daily grind, take in some new sights and sounds to keep our sanity in check!

Thank you Neil and Deja Brew for a delightful afternoon break from our Expand Tour preparation toiling!

You can find more of Neil Speers’ musical talent at Hardwire Speers.
